With a 7-0 conference record and a 17-1 overall record after the first half-season, the Clark's men's basketball team looks to be one of the main contenders for the NWAACC title. "The team has worked really hard to be in this spot. I tell them to enjoy it, but there is a long way to go," head coach Mike Arnold said after Clark's third home victory of the year, a 73-63 defeat of the Centralia Trail Blazers on Jan. Full story

Concealed weapons protect students

Oregon Court of Appeals may influence Washington gun laws

Students in Oregon can now carry concealed weapons onto college campuses after a ruling last September by the Oregon Court of Appeals that cannot be overruled by individuals such as school administrations. Laws should be put into place in Washington that protect the gun rights of students on the Clark College campus. Full story

The Lady Penguins remained undefeated in conference play after besting Centralia College on Jan. 25 at the O'Connell Sports Center by a final score of 64-39, putting them in the perfect position to take home the NWAACC West title. Free student success workshops

Students can find free, quick and helpful tips for improving campus and work life at Clark College's Student Success Workshops this quarter. Each quarter Clark offers two to three 50 to 60-minute Student Success Workshops per week. Catherine Keane, Career Center manager, said the goal of Student Success Workshops is to provide events that students can attend so that they can receive help without needing to sign up beforehand.

Dyson dazzles on and off the court

"Number 20, that's her," Senior Secretary of Athletics Marla Derrick said as she pointed to a picture of Chelsea Dyson. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Dyson is a sophomore guard on the Clark women's basketball team and has made major contributions to the team's perfect 7-0 league record and current 11-game winning streak.

Clark defeats mother nature

Penguin students slide to Clark College from various locations. Many migrate from their residences at high elevations. The reality is, however, that most Clark College students reside within the lower elevations of Vancouver, and in inclement weather situations the decision to close school should be based off of the majority of students.

Graduating students to pay for caps and gowns

Graduating students of Clark College will now no longer receive caps, gowns and tassels for free. A $22 charge has been placed on the graduation attire. The move comes following recent budget cuts within the college and the state, according to special projects and activities manager Michelle Golder.
