You may have seen ASCC and Oswald roll by with their spirited blue and silver cart, or have seen them set up at the table full of free snacks and school supplies on your way to class. Did you get the opportunity to dive into the crowd of students and grab the last set of note cards or play tug-of-war for the green "Peace ♥ Love ♥ Recycle" folder? After all, with a lot of tuition and books to pay for, it's nice to get something for free.

As students made their way back to classes and hit the books, ASCC made its way to all four of Clark's campuses throughout the first week of Spring Quarter. ASCC welcomed students and faculty with free snacks and school supplies in honor of Penguin Pride Week.

Adriana Bordea, ASCC activities director, said ASCC recognized the financial difficulties students face and "wanted to give students all they can get" starting the new quarter.

"Being college students, a lot of students struggle financially and it's nice to get free stuff," said Elise Smith, a first-year Clark student. She also said she thought what ASCC did with Penguin Pride Week was "groovy."

"It's very important to have pride in your school," Smith said. "It's like a brotherhood; like a family."

Ashley Schahfer, ASCC President, said Penguin Pride Week was meant to provide an "easy transition back to school" and help make Clark "feel like a community."

Schahfer said this is the second quarter ASCC brought welcome week to Clark's satellite campuses. Schafer said ASCC recognizes "the lack of community at Clark" and are creating more opportunities to "better connect the campuses."

"[We are] considering adding another position to the ASCC team that would be responsible for connecting with the satellite campuses on a regular basis or maybe even have members that are stationed at the other campuses," she said, and further mentioned ASCC is contemplating having ASCC members stationed at other campuses.

ASCC is working on providing "a streaming monitor system at all the campuses that will keep current info and resources available at a glance," Schahfer said.

"These solutions all have a great amount of process to go through before anything happens, but in the mean time we have made the goals of holding events at all our other campuses and attending events they hold," Schahfer said.

"Sometimes they feel left out because they're not on campus, but we definitely want to reach them," Bordea said.
