Overthrowing the lamestream media
For years, ever since the placement of a television in every living room in America, people have turned to the nightly news in it's many embodiments, as their reliable source of accurate and trusted journalism. The faces have changed over the years; Walter Kronkite was the most trusted man in America in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Concealed weapons protect students
Students in Oregon can now carry concealed weapons onto college campuses after a ruling last September by the Oregon Court of Appeals that cannot be overruled by individuals such as school administrations. Laws should be put into place in Washington that protect the gun rights of students on the Clark College campus.

Clark defeats mother nature
Penguin students slide to Clark College from various locations. Many migrate from their residences at high elevations. The reality is, however, that most Clark College students reside within the lower elevations of Vancouver, and in inclement weather situations the decision to close school should be based off of the majority of students.

SOPA Sings of Censorship
On the surface, it looks like a blanketing solution to protect the intellectual property of media companies that was taken straight from the script of communist China. H.R. 3261, the Stop Online Piracy Act, a 78-page bill, is a frightening reminder of how far the entertainment industry and the legislative branch have fallen behind the digital age.

Bowl game lacks bang
It's all over. The Alabama Crimson Tide hoisted the national championship trophy after a lop-sided victory over the Louisiana State University Tigers that left many fans with a sour taste in their mouths. Millions of people watched across the nation as the Bowl Championship Series let them down again, in a replay of a game that happened earlier in the year.

To infinity and beyond?
This year marks the 50th anniversary of John Glenn's flight in the spacecraft Friendship 7 on Feb. 20. He became the first American to orbit earth, and stirred the United State's passion for the space program. In the U.S., NASA has been the inspiration for many devices we use every day.

Missed opportunity at a home run for Clark
At some point in our lives, we all have to pay taxes. We have to pay taxes for things we believe are good causes, as well as for things we deem unworthy of our dollars. Whether you are a baseball fan or not, this multi-purpose stadium - make sure you save this phrase in your brain, folks - would have benefited Clark College as a whole.

It’s a virtual world...
Online classes don't work for everyone. If you tend to do sit in the back of the class and do as little as possible to slide by in face to face classes then online just may work...depending on the subject. Clark is putting more and more classes online for students.

Staying in-tune to the challenges our students, college and state face, we have attended and held discussions with various groups to have a better understanding of the impact we, as students, can have.

Fresh ink, same story
One of the most popular girls since 1959 drapes her 11.5-inch frame with accessories like sunglasses and a purse, but now sports a pink bob and tattoos. Mattel‘s Barbie, as if she weren't bad enough for young girls already, has gone too far. Even though TokiDoki is in limited production, the new Barbie won't have limited influence.

World Population Hits Another Milestone
Whenever I think of the term "population growth," my mind conjures an image of a starving child in Africa - one featured on one of those "Feed the Children" infomercials that attempt to guilt-trip you into making a pittance of a regular contribution.

Pay to Play
Being an NCAA student athlete isn't a cakewalk. On top of their studies, student athletes have to find time for practice. In addition, vast blocks of time are consumed as a product of travelling across the country to play in away games. Football players bring in billions of dollars alone in revenue for their respective colleges.
